Moonshot Thinking Course Outline
Week #1 THINKING LIKE AN ENGINNER Introduction to Course What is STEM / STEAM? What is the Engineering Design Process? What is Moonshot Thinking? I will understand the importance of communication in regards to engineering design while collaborating with others. Challenge #1: Communication I will collaborate with a partner to design and construct a boat out of aluminium foil Challenge #2: Float / Redesign Boat (Innovation) I will construct a truss bridge using 75 Popsicle sticks and test it's strength. Challenge #3: Bridge Building (Video) -Bridge Building Game -Bridge Building Planning Game I will respond to the following video on engineering and design and reflect on their message. Challenge #4: Paper Airplane Toss Bernoulli & Newton's Theory: The Aerodynamics of Flight Who were Bernoulli & Newton What?! There is Math in Flight? What is our future of flight Week #4 LEVERAGING TECHNOLOGY FOR YOUR WORLD I will create a Google Project in which I will apply at least 2 of the applications. The NEW World of Google -Google Tools Come Alive! -Resource Project Expectations: a. You will create a Google Slide Show to present your findings. b. You will explore (2) Google Applications and build, create, and/or develop a product from each of them. c.
